Ukrainian Defense Forces eliminated an additional 510 Russian occupiers in the past day. Ukrainian soldiers also destroyed 15 more tanks, 18 drones, and nearly 50 enemy artillery systems, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The total Russian combat losses from February 24, 2022 to October 2, 2023 are estimated as follows:

  • Personnel: Approximately 279,080 (+510) individuals eliminated.
  • Tanks: 4,717 (+15) destroyed.
  • Combat armored vehicles: 9,000 (+9) destroyed.
  • Artillery systems: 6,525 (+48) destroyed.
  • MLRS (Multiple Launch Rocket Systems): 801 (+3) destroyed.
  • Anti-aircraft systems: 540 (+3) destroyed.
  • Aircraft: 316 destroyed.
  • Helicopters: 316 destroyed.
  • Tactical UAVs (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles): 5,061 (+18) destroyed.
  • Cruise missiles: 1,529 destroyed.
  • Ships/boats: 20 destroyed.
  • Submarines: 1 destroyed.
  • Military vehicles and tankers: 8,909 (+26) destroyed.
  • Specialized equipment: 938 (+5) destroyed.

Frontline situation

As reported by the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the morning briefing on October 2, there were 38 combat engagements on the frontlines in the past day. Ukrainian soldiers continue defensive operations in the east and south of Ukraine, and are conducting offensive operations on the Melitopol and Bakhmut directions.

The Defense Forces' aviation carried out 13 strikes in the past day on areas where the enemy's personnel, weaponry, and military equipment were concentrated. Missile units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces struck a SAM (Surface-to-Air Missile) complex, a command post, an ammunition depot, and 16 artillery pieces of the enemy.
