Russia's losses in Ukraine as of May 3: +1,170 troops and 48 artillery systems

Over the past day, from May 2 to 3, Russia lost another 1,170 soldiers in its war against Ukraine. At the same time, the total number of Russian losses since the beginning of the full-scale invasion has exceeded 955,000 military personnel, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The total combat Russian losses from February 24, 2022, to May 3, 2025, are estimated to be:
- personnel - about 955,470 (+1,170) Russian troops were eliminated;
- tanks - 10,745 (+4);
- troop-carrying AFVs - 22,369 (+5);
- artillery systems - 27,234 (+48);
- MLRS - 1,375;
- anti-aircraft systems - 1,153 (+1);
- aircraft - 370;
- helicopters - 335 units;
- UAV operational-tactical level - 34,665 (+126);
- cruise missiles - 3,197 (+1);
- warships/boats - 28;
- submarines - 1;
- vehicles and fuel tanks - 47,003 (+121);
- special equipment - 3,870 (+1).
Situation on the frontline
As a reminder, on May 1, a total of 199 combat engagements took place along the frontline. Throughout the day, Russian forces concentrated most of their attacks on four directions: Pokrovsk, Kupiansk, Lyman, and Novopavlivka.
