Russian losses in the war in Ukraine for the period from May 16 to May 17 amounted to 1,410 occupiers. In addition, the Ukrainian Armed Forces destroyed 38 enemy artillery systems, two aircraft, and one helicopter, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The total Russian combat losses from February 24, 2022 to May 17, 2024 are estimated as follows:

  • Personnel: 489,870 (+1,400) eliminated
  • Tanks: 7,547 (+18) units
  • APV (Armored personnel vehicles): 14,552 (+14) units
  • Artillery systems: 12,603 (+38) units
  • MLRS (Multiple launch rocket systems): 1,071 (+1) units
  • Anti aircraft warfare systems: 800 (+2) units
  • Aircraft: 353 (+2) units
  • Helicopters: 326 (+1) units
  • UAV operational-tactical level: 10,073 (+45) units
  • Cruise missiles: 2,200 units
  • Warships/boats: 26 units
  • Submarines: 1 unit
  • Vehicles and fuel tanks: 17,104 (+56) units
  • Special equipment: 2,069 (+7) units

According to ISW, Russian invaders have advanced in the Kharkiv region and are exerting pressure in the Donetsk area.

Meanwhile, photos have surfaced online showing the Belbek airfield in occupied Crimea, which was recently hit by missiles from our defenders.

The US State Department has announced that the battlefield situation is expected to change due to new packages of military aid from the United States for Ukraine.
