Russian battlefield setbacks continue to mount

Ukraine's military has published its daily update on Russian combat losses, detailing the manpower and equipment Moscow is estimated to have lost over the past day.
The total Russian combat losses from February 24, 2022, to July 22, 2026, are estimated to be:
- Personnel - nearly 1,433,230 (+1,330)
- Tanks ‒ 12,163 (+2)
- Armored fighting vehicles ‒ 24,982 (+4)
- Special equipment ‒ 4,450 (+9)
- Vehicles and fuel tanks ‒ 123,702 (+355)
- Unmanned ground vehicles ‒ 1,981 (+11)
- Artillery systems ‒ 46,492 (+57)
- MLRS ‒ 1,958 (+3)
- Air defense assets ‒ 1,513
- Aircraft ‒ 438
- Helicopters ‒ 354
- UAVs (operational-tactical level) ‒ 421,900 (+1,610)
- Cruise missiles ‒ 4,933
- Warships and boats ‒ 34

Frontline situation
Russian forces conducted limited offensive operations in the northern part of Ukraine's Sumy region but failed to make any advances, according to an ISW report. Russia continues efforts to establish defensible buffer zones in the Sumy region along the international border.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian military forces destroyed a Russian MiG-29 fighter jet at an airfield in the Kursk region.
