Situation on the front
According to the latest update from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, more than 100 combat engagements were recorded along the front line. The fiercest fighting took place in the Pokrovsk, Kostiantynivka, and Huliaipole directions.
Myrnohrad, Pokrovsk, and Kupiansk remain strategic objectives for Russian forces but are still under Kyiv's control, despite frequent Russian propaganda claims falsely reporting the capture of these cities and other settlements.
Recently, Ukrainian troops regained control of the Kupiansk City Council building. The operation was carried out as part of efforts to relieve the city, under the command of the 2nd Corps of the National Guard of Ukraine.
Analysts at the Institute for the Study of War say Russia's false claims about capturing Kupiansk and other locations are part of a broader Kremlin information strategy aimed at influencing the US and its partners ahead of potential peace talks.
By promoting a narrative of inevitable victory, Moscow seeks to pressure Ukraine and the West into accepting Russian demands under the threat of future offensives.
