From January 2 to January 3, Russian forces lost an additional 710 soldiers on the front lines. The Armed Forces of Ukraine also destroyed 24 artillery systems, 101 vehicles, and 539 drones, reports the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

The total combat Russian losses from February 24, 2022, to January 3, 2026, are estimated to be:

Rescuers have recovered another body from the rubble of a destroyed residential building in Kharkiv. Preliminary reports indicate the victim is a woman. Search-and-rescue operations are ongoing. Earlier, on January 2, the body of a three-year-old child was pulled from the debris, while the child’s mother is still considered missing.

Lana 'Sati' Chornohorska, a servicemember of the Ukrainian Volunteer Army, was killed on January 1 on the southern front as a result of Russian drone strike.
