Russia's losses in Ukraine as of February 21: +1,280 troops, 135 drones, 52 artillery systems

Over the past day, from February 20 to 21, the Russian army lost 1,280 soldiers, 12 tanks, and 4 multiple rocket launch systems in its war against Ukraine. In total, the enemy lost 238 equipment units in a single day, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reports.
The total combat Russian losses from February 24, 2022, to February 21, 2025, are estimated to be:
- personnel - about 864,860 (+1,280) Russian troops were eliminated;
- tanks - 10,146 (+12);
- armored personnel vehicles - 21,130 (+18);
- artillery systems - 23,462 (+52);
- MLRS - 1,295 (+4);
- anti-aircraft warfare systems - 1,080 (+2);
- aircraft - 370;
- helicopters - 331;
- UAVs operational-tactical level - 26,156 (+135);
- cruise missiles - 3,064;
- warships/boats - 28;
- submarines - 1;
- motor vehicles and fuel tanks - 38,104 (+143);
- special equipment - 3,753 (+1).
Situation on frontline and air attacks
According to the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), the Armed Forces of Ukraine had success near Pokrovsk. However, the Russians are also pressing in the area of Pokrovsk and Velyka Novosilka.
On the night of February 21, Russian troops once again attacked Ukraine with Shahed kamikaze drones.
In Kyiv, explosions were heard due to air defense operations against enemy targets.
