Russia's losses in Ukraine as of December 20: 890 troops and 16 tanks
Russia's losses in the war in Ukraine as of Wednesday morning, December 20, amounted to 890 occupiers, bringing the total casualties of the Russian army since the invasion to about 349,190 military personnel. Additionally, the Ukrainian Armed Forces destroyed 16 Russian tanks, 23 armored vehicles, and 16 artillery systems, according to the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
The overall Russian combat losses from February 24, 2022 to December 20, 2023 are estimated as follows:
- Personnel: About 349,190 (+890) individuals.
- Tanks: 5,814 (+16) units.
- Armored personnel vehicles (APV): 10,794 (+23) units.
- Artillery systems: 8,206 (+16) units.
- Multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS): 928 (+2) units.
- Anti-aircraft warfare systems: 611 units.
- Aircraft: 324 units.
- Helicopters: 324 units.
- UAV operational-tactical level: 6,316 (+17) units.
- Cruise missiles: 1,612 (+1) units.
- Warships/boats: 22 units.
- Submarines: 1 unit.
- Vehicles and fuel tanks: 10,871 (+29) units.
- Special equipment: 1,203 (+3) units.
Frontline situation
According to the General Staff, Ukrainian forces repelled 12 enemy attacks on the Zaporizhzhia front and are wearing down the enemy on the Melitopol front. Missile forces targeted and hit four enemy ammunition depots.
According to the Institute for the Study of War, Ukrainian forces also repelled Russian attacks in the area around Avdiivka, as well as in the northwest, southwest, and directly west of Avdiivka. There is a chance that Ukrainian forces have withdrawn to more fortified positions closer to Robotyne.
