Russia may launch another 2 to 4 attacks on Ukraine by January 20, specifically referring to massive strikes, Oleksandr Musiienko, Head of the Сenter for Military Law Research, states in a comment to RBC-Ukraine.

According to the expert, there will inevitably be a pause after today's combined attack. Experience shows that after large-scale strikes, the Russians need a break of at least three days, with a maximum pause lasting a week or even 2–3–4 weeks.

"In my opinion, the enemy will try to carry out another 2–3 massive attacks by January 20. In general, Russia planned to conduct 5–7 attacks during this period from November to January. They have already carried out three similar attacks. So, they will likely attempt another 2–4 attacks by January 20," Musiienko believes.

The expert explaines that the enemy's goal is to apply pressure ahead of the inauguration of the newly elected US President Donald Trump in January.

"Russia is trying to pressure Ukraine, demoralize our rear, and present a picture to the US, claiming that Russia has all the capabilities to carry out strikes. Therefore, the enemy is preparing for further attacks, but the minimum interval is 72 hours. Conducting another massive attack earlier than this is unlikely. I'm speaking specifically about large-scale attacks; smaller-scale ones are more probable," Musiienko concludes.

Russia's massive attack on Ukraine

After a brief pause in attacks with Shahed drones, the Russian army launched kamikaze drones on Ukraine again. The attack lasted throughout the last evening and into the night, followed by missile strikes in the morning.

However, Ukraine's air defense forces managed to destroy 81 out of 94 Russian missiles and 80 out of 193 drones, with another 105 UAVs being lost locally.

Once again, the enemy targeted energy infrastructure. As President Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted, this was one of the largest attacks on Ukraine's energy sector.

Reports indicate hits on targets in western regions. Fires broke out, and efforts to eliminate the consequences are ongoing. Due to the strikes, energy companies have had to enhance power outage schedules.
