On the night of January 27, Russian forces launched more than a hundred drones against Ukraine. Air defense managed to destroy 57 of them, the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reports.

In total, the enemy launched 104 UAVs of the Shahed type and various types of decoy drones from the directions of the Russian cities of Kursk, Millerovo, Primorsko-Akhtarsk, as well as the temporarily occupied Chauda.

To repel the attack, the following were involved:

  • aviation;
  • anti-aircraft missile forces;
  • electronic warfare units;
  • mobile fire groups of the Air Force and Defense Forces of Ukraine.

As of 9 a.m., it has been confirmed:

  • 57 drones were shot down in the Kyiv, Mykolaiv, Kharkiv, Poltava, Ivano-Frankivsk, and several other regions;
  • 39 UAVs were lost locally without negative consequences.

"Due to the Russian drone attack, the Dnipropetrovsk, Sumy, Ivano-Frankivsk, and Kyiv regions were affected. Infrastructure facilities, apartment buildings, and private homes were damaged. Preliminary reports indicate no casualties; assistance is being provided to the injured. Special services are addressing the consequences of the enemy attack," the Air Force reports.

Shelling of Ukraine

Nearly every night, Russian terrorists resort to shelling Ukraine, creating a serious threat to civilians. The enemy uses drones, missiles of various types, artillery, and guided aerial bombs for attacks. That night, due to a drone attack, an air alert was declared in Kyiv. Reports noted the operation of air defense systems.

Due to the nighttime attack, fires broke out at two locations at an infrastructure site in the Ivano-Frankivsk district.
