Russia launched 137 attack drones at Ukraine overnight, including 49 jet-powered drones. Ukraine’s Defense Forces shot down most of them, but some strikes were recorded, according to the Ukrainian Air Force.

The attack began at 6 p.m. on October 5. Russian forces launched Shahed-type drones, including 49 jet-powered drones, as well as Gerbera, Banderol/Dan-T, and Parodiya decoy drones.

The drones were launched from Oryol, Kursk, Shatalovo, Millerovo, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk in Russia, from occupied Donetsk, from Hvardiiske in occupied Crimea, and from the Sea of Azov.

What is known about the aftermath

According to preliminary data, as of 8 a.m., air defenses had shot down or suppressed 114 Shahed, Gerbera, and other types of drones.

Hits by enemy attack weapons were recorded at 17 locations. Debris from downed drones fell at another four locations.

The attack is ongoing, with several enemy drones still in Ukrainian airspace.

As previously reported by RBC-Ukraine, on the morning of October 6, Russian forces attacked a bridge across the Dnipro River in Zaporizhzhia.

Five people were injured, including two Red Cross workers who were on their way to work.

Meanwhile, on the evening of October 5, drone debris fell near a residential building in Kyiv’s Pecherskyi district.

Two passenger cars caught fire, while another was damaged. No injuries were reported.
