Overnight on June 12, Russian forces launched two separate drone attacks on Kharkiv. Several districts of the city came under fire, with confirmed strikes and reports of casualties, according to the channel of Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov.

He reported that strikes were recorded in three districts of the city, Shevchenkivskyi, Saltivskyi, and Slobidskyi (though there was no detailed information yet on the latter).

Shevchenkivskyi district

Following the first attack, which occurred around 01:38 AM Kyiv time, a second strike hit the courtyard of a school. Windows in the building were shattered, though no injuries were reported.

Later in the night, another strike was confirmed on the grounds of a kindergarten.

"A strike on the territory of a kindergarten located in the courtyard of several apartment buildings in the Shevchenkivskyi district has been confirmed. The consequences are being clarified," read a message posted at 03:20 AM Kyiv time.

Saltivskyi district

In the Saltivskyi district, residential buildings were damaged, and there were reports of injuries.

"A strike on the roof of an apartment building in the Saltivskyi district has been confirmed. No injuries in that case. There was also a strike, initially on a fitness club in the same district, where one person was injured," the mayor wrote at 03:18 AM Kyiv time.

A few minutes later, he updated that the number of injured had risen to two.

He also mentioned another strike on a separate apartment building, adding that there were injuries and that one of the impacts occurred just a few meters from the building.

"Two injured in Saltivka, girls aged 12 and 16. Both are experiencing acute stress reactions. Medical personnel are assisting them," Terekhov reported at 03:34 AM Kyiv time.

"There are now eight injured in the Saltivskyi district. Four of them are children. A two-year-old has a laceration to the head," the mayor added at 03:38 AM Kyiv time.

Meanwhile, regional governor Oleh Syniehubov confirmed that among the eight injured were a two-year-old child, a 17-year-old girl, and a 57-year-old man.

A few minutes later, he reported that the total number of injured had increased to ten. Among them were a 76-year-old man and a 76-year-old woman, both experiencing acute stress reactions.

Preliminary reports indicate that Russia carried out 12 strikes on Kharkiv during the night. One of the munitions failed to detonate, according to Terekhov's 04:00 AM Kyiv time statement.

He also stated that the number of injured in Saltivka had risen to 11. Regional authorities added that a 42-year-old man sought medical assistance for a foot laceration.

Kharkiv attacks on night of June 11

As a reminder, Russian forces also attacked Kharkiv the previous night, launching 15 Shahed drones. According to Syniehubov, the drones hit the city within a record timeframe of just 1–2 minutes.

Strikes were recorded at 11 locations across the city, including three direct hits on residential buildings. According to the latest reports, four people were killed and more than 60 were injured as a result.

Syniehubov also noted that Russia is adopting new tactics to target civilian infrastructure and housing.

"Russia is changing tactics. Initially, the 'Shaheds' fly at an altitude of 4,000–5,000 meters, then sharply descend just before striking their targets," he explained.
