Russia fails to pay railway workers on temporarily occupied territories, leading to increasing debt, according to the National Resistance Center of Ukraine (NRC).

The NRC emphasized that after seizing the railway infrastructure in Ukrainian territories under occupation, the Kremlin has not paid salaries to local railway workers who stayed in the region for months. As a result, the created occupation railroad operator is not staffed.

At the same time, while Russian propaganda promises to restore passenger services, the enemy uses the railways exclusively for military purposes. Moreover, Russian forces have turned the depots into repair bases for damaged equipment.

As a reminder, in August, the NRC reported that Russian forces had been systematically failing to pay salaries to public sector workers in occupied Luhansk. The issue specifically affected tram and trolleybus drivers.
