Russia brings air defense systems to Crimean Bridge, builds 'mysterious structure'
Russian occupiers are transporting a colossal number of air defense systems (ADS) to the Crimean Bridge. In particular, they are constructing a "mysterious structure," according to the spokesperson for the Ukrainian Navy, Dmytro Pletenchuk.
"The peninsula is packed with air defense systems as much as possible. This is because it holds not only pragmatic importance for the occupiers but also symbolic significance. They have sacralized both the Crimean Bridge and Crimea itself. In fact, the Russian aggression in Ukraine began with Crimea (in 2014, - ed.). For them, this is a key location," explained Pletenchuk.
According to the Navy spokesperson, Crimea serves as a base for the southern grouping of Russian forces, where personnel are replenished, units are resupplied, and various training exercises take place.
Currently, all available enemy air defense systems of various ranges are deployed on the Crimean peninsula.
The Russians are using all available air defense systems on the peninsula, including the S-300, S-400, and even the S-500 systems.
Pletenchuk said that there is no information yet regarding the "mysterious structure" being built by the Russians near the Crimean Bridge. It could be a protective or technical structure, or perhaps a passage.
Crimean Bridge
The Ukrainian Navy has struck the bridge multiple times, using various weapons, including naval drones and missiles. These attacks caused significant damage, leading to partial destruction of the structure.
As a result, the use of the bridge for transporting goods and military equipment has been temporarily complicated. Russia has been forced to carry out repair work and restrict movement across the bridge.
In June, the Institute for the Study of War reported that if the Ukrainian Navy's strikes destroy the Crimean Bridge, Russia's ability to maintain its occupation of the peninsula will be weakened.
