Russia attacks Ukraine overnight with missiles and drones, air defenses take down ballistic missiles

On the night of August 27, Russia attacked Ukraine with missiles and drones of various types. Ukraine’s air defense forces managed to shoot down most of the enemy targets, including 7 ballistic missiles, according to the Ukrainian Air Force.
This night, the Russians attacked Ukraine with:
- Two Oniks anti-ship missiles from the temporarily occupied territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea;
- Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles from Russia’s Bryansk and Kursk regions;
- 258 Shahed-type attack drones (about one-third of them jet-powered), Gerbera drones, S8000 BanderoL drones, and Parodiya-type decoy drones launched from the following directions: Kursk, Millerovo, Oryol, Primorsko-Akhtarsk in Russia, the temporarily occupied Donetsk region, and Hvardiiske in the temporarily occupied Autonomous Republic of Crimea.
The main directions of the attack were the Odesa, Kyiv, Dnipropetrovsk and Poltava regions, as well as Zaporizhzhia.
According to preliminary data, as of 9:00 a.m., air defense forces had shot down/suppressed:
- One Oniks anti-ship missile;
- 7 Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles;
- 3 S8000 BanderoL drones;
- 222 enemy Shahed-type, Gerbera and other types of drones.
Hits by enemy air attack weapons were recorded at 15 locations, while debris from downed targets fell at 11 locations.
Some of the enemy weapons did not reach their targets, and information about them is being clarified.
Attack on Ukraine on August 27
Russia launched a massive attack on Ukraine with missiles and drones overnight on August 27. Odesa, Kyiv, Kharkiv, the Poltava region and other regions came under attack.
In Kharkiv, a drone hit the balcony of an apartment on the fourth floor of a residential building, injuring a 30-year-old man.
In the Poltava region, industrial enterprises in the Kremenchuk district and an energy facility in the Myrhorod district were hit, leaving 7 settlements without electricity.
Odesa was attacked for more than 7 hours: a 16-story building, two educational institutions, a private house, a grain elevator, garages and cars were damaged.
In Kyiv, debris from downed drones damaged a courtyard and an educational institution, while warehouses were burning in the Brovary district of the Kyiv region.
