Russia attacked Ukrainian thermal power plants 180 times since Feb. 2022
Ukraine's energy company DTEK has calculated the total number of attacks on Ukrainian thermal power plants since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion, according to DTEK Executive Officer, Dmytro Sakharuk.
"If we count since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the occupiers have shelled our thermal power plants almost 180 times," he said.
According to him, the shelling on April 27 was the fourth major attack after similar shelling on March 22, 29, and April 11.
"We are currently analyzing the consequences of this attack (April 27), the damage is significant. Four power plants have suffered quite substantial damage," Sakharuk added.
Russian attacks on TPP in Ukraine
Russian forces continuously attack TPP in Ukraine. During the attack on March 22, all units of the Burshtyn and Ladyzhyn TPP were damaged by Russian strikes.
On March 29, three thermal power plants in Ukraine were attacked at once and an energy worker was injured. At that time, there were reports of a total of 160 strikes on TPPs since the invasion began.
On April 11, the Trypillia TPP in the Kyiv region was completely destroyed. It was the largest electricity supplier to three regions - Kyiv, Cherkasy, and Zhytomyr regions.
On the night of April 27, the Russian army attacked four DTEK thermal power plants.
