Russia attacked Ukraine with 56 drones, hits recorded
Russia launched a drone attack on Ukraine during the night of October 17, with five confirmed hits, according to the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The occupiers launched 56 strike drones and unmanned aerial vehicles of an unidentified type, with the launch areas being Kursk, Oryol, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk. Additionally, the enemy attacked with a guided Kh-59 air-to-surface missile from the airspace of the Kursk region.
Ukrainian air defense forces destroyed 22 enemy drones. The air defense system was active in the regions of Sumy, Kyiv, Poltava, Chernihiv, Zhytomyr, Mykolayiv, Cherkasy, Odesa, and Ternopil.
Another 27 strike drones were lost due to electronic warfare countermeasures. Two drones exited Ukrainian airspace, heading towards Belarus.
The Air Force reported five hits on infrastructure objects in frontline regions.
Details of attack's consequences
This night, the occupiers targeted an energy facility in the Mykolaiv region. According to local authorities, the attack resulted in power outages for consumers.
Additionally, Russian forces attempted to strike Kyiv. All drones headed toward the capital were destroyed, but a residential apartment building in Kyiv's Desnianskyi district was damaged as a result of the attack.
