Russia attacks Ukraine with 171 drones from five directions: Air defense responds

The Russian army launched a massive drone attack on Ukraine, deploying 171 drones. Air defense systems were active in several regions, the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reports.
"On the night of March 20, the enemy attacked with 171 strike UAVs of the 'Shahed' type and various types of decoy drones," the report states.
Russian occupiers launched drones from the directions of Oryol, Shatalovo, Millerovo, Primorsko-Akhtarsk, and Chauda (Crimea).
Air defense responses
Aviation, anti-aircraft missile forces, electronic warfare units, and mobile fire groups of the Air Force and Defense Forces of Ukraine repelled the aerial attack.
"As of 8:30 a.m., the confirmed downing of 75 strike UAVs of the 'Shahed' type and other drones has been reported," the Ukrainian military stated.
Air defense operated in the Kharkiv, Poltava, Sumy, Chernihiv, Cherkasy, Kyiv, Zhytomyr, Vinnytsia, Kirovohrad, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson regions.
Furthermore, 63 enemy decoy drones were lost locally.
Consequences of Russia's attack on Ukraine
The attack affected the Kirovohrad, Sumy, and Donetsk regions.
In particular, Russian drones targeted the Kirovohrad region, striking residential buildings in Kropyvnytskyi. As of now, 10 people, including children, have been injured in Kropyvnytskyi due to the Russian attack.
Russian drones were also intercepted on the outskirts of Kyiv. Air defense forces shot down 11 UAVs, despite no air raid alarms being declared in the capital.
