US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that news regarding military aid for Ukraine is expected in the near future, according to Reuters.
Speaking to a Senate subcommittee on June 3, Rubio said that news about the delayed funds would come "pretty soon." He did not provide any further details.
The funds in question are $400 million approved by Congress to support Ukraine. However, the money has yet to be transferred and remains held up at the Pentagon.
In late April, Republican Senator McConnell publicly accused the Pentagon of delaying aid to Ukraine. Members of the committee had submitted inquiries to the department's analytical division but received no responses.
Following growing criticism from lawmakers, Defense Secretary Hegseth announced during a congressional hearing that the Pentagon had officially released the $400 million aid package.
"The funds were released as of yesterday," he said.
For months, officials were unable to explain the reasons behind the delay, prompting widespread criticism in Congress.
