Rubio says US gets closer to ending war in Ukraine

The United States believes it is now closer to ending the conflict in Ukraine than it was before.
This was stated by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, according to the official’s interview with Fox News.
According to Rubio, everyone wants the war to end, but the conditions under which it would end are always the difficult part.
He noted that while today had been a good day, much work still lay ahead. He added that although he did not want to exaggerate, the US was definitely closer to peace than it had been the day before, when there had been no proximity to peace at all.

On Wednesday, August 6, US President’s Special Envoy for Middle East Affairs Steve Witkoff paid an official visit to Moscow. During his meeting with Vladimir Putin, he discussed possible scenarios for ending the war between Ukraine and Russia.
President Donald Trump noted that significant progress had been made in these negotiations.
The White House chief also expressed his willingness to meet with Putin. After that, Trump said he was also open to meeting with Zelenskyy.
According to media reports, Putin is also not opposed to meeting with Trump "at some point."
