Republicans criticize Trump for insulting Harris
During the US presidential campaign, candidate Donald Trump repeatedly insulted his opponent Kamala Harris. He faced criticism from both Democrats and Republicans for this behavior, reports The New York Times.
The publication clarifies that the criticism stemmed from a series of derogatory remarks made by former US President Trump, in which he referred to current Vice President Harris as "mentally impaired" and "mentally disabled."
Specifically, Senator Lindsey Graham (Republican from South Carolina) stated on CNN that he believes Harris's policies are damaging the country.
Former Maryland Governor Larry Hogan (Republican), who opposes Trump and is running for the US Senate, called these remarks "insulting" both to Harris and to "people that actually do have mental disabilities."
Meanwhile, Illinois Governor JB Pritzker (Democrat) condemned the "name-calling" from Trump.
"Whenever he (Trump - ed.) says things like that, he’s talking about himself but trying to project it," Pritzker said.
It is worth noting that there are 37 days remaining until the US presidential election, which will take place on November 5, 2024.
