The Russian dictator Vladimir Putin will not be able to subdue Ukraine, and Kyiv will not fall into the hands of Russia, according to the US Secretary of State Antony Blinken.

When asked if the US can promise that Kyiv will never fall into the hands of Russia, Blinken said, "I am convinced we already have. In other words, it is not happening, it’s never going to happen."

The US Secretary of State confirmed that at the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Washington considered the possibility of Kyiv "falling." However, the US is now confident that this will not happen.

"But thanks to the incredible resistance of the Ukrainian people, and thanks also to the support given to Ukraine by the United States, France and other countries, Putin’s desire to conquer the whole country, to wipe it off the map, to make it part of a greater Russia, has not materialized and it won’t," he said.

Backstory

On February 13, the US Senate approved a bill to assist Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan with $95 billion. In particular, over $60 billion is allocated for Ukraine.

For the bill to take effect, it still needs to be approved by the US House of Representatives and signed by President Joe Biden.

House Speaker Mike Johnson opposed such an initiative. He does not bring the bill to the lower house of Congress for consideration. In turn, President Joe Biden urged the House of Representatives to approve the bill.
