Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski believes that Russian President Vladimir Putin will agree to a deal if he realizes that the West is ready to support Ukraine longer than he can sustain the war.

"To convince Putin to be more reasonable we need to convince him that the price he would have to pay would be unacceptable. If we convince him that we are not eager to go back to business as usual and we can sustain it longer than him, then he'll make a deal," the minister stated.

In his view, the strategy should be for Ukraine’s partners to remain steadfast and continue supporting Ukraine’s defense for as long as it is willing to defend itself.

"Putin wants peace, but on his terms. The question is how to make a deal that everybody can live with. If it can be done faster, great. But, to my mind, to get to it faster, we should prepare for the medium term," Sikorski emphasized.
