Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, nearly a week after the start of fighting in the Kursk region, convened yet another meeting regarding the situation on the border with Ukraine, citing Interfax.

Putin claimed that Ukrainian forces allegedly attacked the Kursk region in an attempt to halt Russia's advance in the Donetsk region.

As usual, Putin boasted about the remarkably rapid progress of Russian forces along the front line. However, it seems the dictator fears that the events in the Kursk region could sow discord and strife within Russian society, intimidate the population, and deal a blow to the internal political situation.

This is likely why Putin said that Russian forces must "push the enemy out of Russian territories and ensure reliable protection of the state border."

"This will be done. But the main focus now is on resolving the urgent tasks that arise at this time, based on forecasts of the situation's development," Putin said.

Fighting in Kursk region of Russia

Early last week, Russians claimed that Ukrainian forces allegedly breached the border with Russia in the Kursk region. Large-scale battles reportedly ensued, during which Ukrainians supposedly seized and took control of several settlements.

The Ukrainian military command has not commented on the events in the Kursk region. However, this past weekend, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukrainian forces are currently pushing the war onto the aggressor's territory.
