Hundreds of protesters dissatisfied with US president Donald Trump’s policies took to the streets of Washington. The main reasons for the gathering were the Jeffrey Epstein files scandal, migration policy, and the proposed peace plan for Ukraine, according to Suspilne.
Protesters carried signs reading "Trump must go now," "You’re either defending America or Trump - you can’t do both," "Impeach their asses! Hold the line!" and "TRUMP just sold Ukraine."
One of the protesters, Harry Rush, said he joined the demonstration because he opposes everything Donald Trump is doing.
He said he was especially outraged that Trump had given Ukraine a deadline to accept what he calls a "deal." According to him, this is not a deal but "a capitulation to Putin." He called it unacceptable that Ukrainians are being asked to sign an agreement that neither they nor their European partners helped draft, adding that the US president is simply trying to rebuild his own image.
He also noted that the deadline was set right before Thanksgiving, the reason he used a turkey on his protest sign. He added that he stands with Ukraine and looks forward to the day Ukraine expels Russian forces from its territory.
Another American, named Jeremy, said he attended the protest because of the issue of Trump’s impeachment.
He added that he does not support the proposed peace plan.
Earlier, it was reported that on 23 October, US President Donald Trump ordered the deportation of more than 600,000 undocumented migrants by the end of the year.
As for Trump’s so-called peace plan for Ukraine, a number of countries have criticised the proposal. The 28-point plan includes territorial concessions in favour of Russia, a veto on Ukraine’s NATO membership and a reduction in the size of Ukraine’s armed forces. However, Trump recently acknowledged that the document is not final and could be amended.
