Prince George began his studies at the prestigious Eton College on September 8. His parents, Prince William and Kate Middleton, accompanied him on his first day, according to People.

Prince George becomes an Eton student

13-year-old George arrived at Eton College on Tuesday, September 8. The family was greeted outside the school by its headmaster, Simon Henderson, and Eton's provost, Sir Nicholas Coleridge, who chairs the college's governing body.

For the official meeting, the prince wore a classic suit. However, shortly after his arrival, the first photos of George in the famous school uniform emerged.

The photos were taken by Matt Porteous, a photographer who regularly works with the Prince and Princess of Wales's family. In the pictures, George poses in Eton's traditional attire, which differs significantly from a standard school uniform.

What is known about Eton College's uniform

The school's traditional dress code consists of a black tailcoat, waistcoat, pinstriped trousers, a white shirt with a stiff collar, a tie and black shoes.

Prince Harry, who attended Eton from 1998, also spoke about the uniform's distinctive features. In his memoir Spare, he recalled that it took him some time to learn how to dress properly in the morning.

In the future, George may have the opportunity to wear a more colorful waistcoat. This could happen if he becomes a so-called Pop – a senior student who takes on a leadership role at the school. His father, William, once wore a waistcoat featuring the British flag.

How George followed in his father's footsteps

George's first day at Eton is especially significant for the family, as Prince William took the same path nearly 31 years ago.

He began studying at Eton College in September 1995, when he was also 13 years old. At the time, he was accompanied by Prince Charles and Princess Diana. His 10-year-old brother, Prince Harry, also came to mark the important occasion.

William and Kate Middleton have now personally accompanied their eldest son to the prestigious school.

According to royal experts, George himself wanted to continue the family tradition and attend Eton, where his father spent five years.

In addition, studying at the institution is an important step in preparing him for his future role. As the future King of the United Kingdom, he will need to gain not only a solid education but also experience that will help prepare him for his duties.

Eton is located near Windsor, approximately 24 kilometers from William and Kate's family residence at Forest Lodge. So, although George will live at the school during the week, he will be able to return home on weekends.
