Preparing for worst: S-300 air defense systems being installed around St. Petersburg
The Russian authorities have begun installing S-300 air defense systems around St. Petersburg following successful drone strikes on targets in the Leningrad region, according to the ASTRA Telegram channel.
"S-300s are being deployed around Peter. So, guys, brace yourselves for the worse," the message says.
A local resident captured footage of the anti-aircraft missile systems, with one of them blocking a roadway while attempting to maneuver.
Drone attack
Drones attacked the St. Petersburg Oil Terminal on January 18 and the terminal of the company Novatek in the port of Ust-Luga on January 21. These were the first strikes on the Leningrad region since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
According to RBC-Ukraine, the explosions and subsequent fire at the maritime terminal in Ust-Luga were the result of a special operation by the Security Service of Ukraine.
The operation of the Novatek terminal has been halted and will only resume in a few weeks. However, a quarter of Novatek's export revenues from oil products may be affected.
