Popular rapper of 2000s dies: What is known

Atlanta rapper Anthony Leonard Platt, known to the public as DJ Unk, has died at the age of 44, says his wife Sherkita Long-Platt.
"I just lost my husband, and my kids just lost their father. Our life will never be the same. I love you, Anthony, forever," the artist's beloved wrote on social media.

It is reported that the rapper died in his sleep from cardiac arrest. No other details have been disclosed.
In 2006, DJ Unk reached the peak of his popularity with his debut single "Walk It Out", which reached number 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
His next track "2 Step" also became a hit. The artist is considered one of the pioneers of the "snap music" subgenre, which was especially popular in the mid-2000s. He began his career in 1998 as a DJ, performing at school events and parties across the state of Georgia.

A landmark event for him was signing a contract with Big Oomp Records in 2000, which significantly advanced his music career.
In 2009, the artist suffered serious health problems - he had a heart attack, which he attributed to his exhausting touring schedule and unhealthy lifestyle.
Big Oomp Records expressed deep condolences to the artist's family, emphasizing his significant contribution to the music industry.
By the way, the last public performance took place at the BET Awards 2023, where he performed his hit "Walk It Out". DJ Unk is survived by his wife and children.
