Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski, during a press conference, stated that Poland will shut down all Russian consulates on its territory if Russia continues carrying out sabotage activities in Europe, The Guardian reports.

"I have closed the consulate in Poznań. If they do not stop, we will close the rest," Sikorski said.

Deterioration of diplomatic relations

Diplomatic relations between Poland and Russia have severely deteriorated since the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022. Poland has become one of Ukraine's leading allies, providing military, humanitarian, and political support, which has further strained relations with Moscow.

In May 2022, Poland expelled several Russian diplomats, accusing them of espionage. Furthermore, numerous economic and energy agreements with Russia were terminated.

Poland has strongly advocated for increased sanctions against the Kremlin and consistently called for a unified international response. The country also remains a refuge for Ukrainian refugees and continues to support Kyiv in its fight against Russian aggression.

In October, a 51-year-old Ukrainian citizen in Poland confessed to being ordered by Russian authorities to set fire to Wrocław.
