Poland reports worsening border situation with Belarus

The situation at the Poland-Belarus border has worsened due to aggressive migrants attempting to enter Poland, states Polish Defense Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, as quoted by Polsat News.
The Polish minister noted that migrants are throwing stones, branches, and using angle grinders in an attempt to break through the barrier. According to him, hundreds of attempts to illegally cross into Poland were recorded on the night from Friday to Saturday.
Kosiniak-Kamysz believes that this surge in activity is "intended to weaken Europe and Poland."
"This is aimed at attacking Poland, not at attempting to seek asylum. This, I believe, is now clear to everyone, and one cannot assist in such a procedure... in the illegal crossing of a state border. This is a violation of the law, crossing the border illegally," said the head of Poland's Ministry of Defense.
Poland strengthens its border
Last year, Poland and the Baltic countries proposed to the European Union the construction of a 700-kilometer defense line along the border with Russia and Belarus.
Additionally, in 2024, Poland launched the Eastern Shield project, under which it will strengthen its border with Russia and Belarus. The Polish government has allocated 10 billion zlotys for this initiative.
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk noted that the Eastern Shield is intended to deter a potential aggressor. Tusk stated that Poland is already constructing fortified lines along the border with Russia.
