Opillia vyshyvanka and Zara jeans - How to wear embroidered shirts in everyday life

An embroidered shirt is appearing more and more often not only on holidays but also in the everyday wardrobes of Ukrainians. Modern embroidery fashion is no longer limited to formal occasions.
Designer and founder of the GAPTUVALNYA brand, Nataliia Herhelyuk, told in an interview how attitudes toward traditional clothing have changed and what Ukrainians are choosing now.
According to her, the most popular today are minimalist shirts with white-on-white embroidery.
"They’re often chosen as part of everyday looks, and that really makes me happy. It means that the embroidered shirt is no longer an exception but a norm, a natural part of daily life," the designer explains.

The motivation has also changed: people are looking not just for a beautiful item, but for its meaning. They care about the origin of the ornament, its symbolism, and even the colors.
"It’s especially touching to see how young people are discovering the vyshyvanka - not as a mandatory dress code for Vyshyvanka Day, but as a part of themselves," she adds.
How to combine embroidered shirt with casual style
"If it’s an embroidered blouse, I pair it with jeans, classic trousers, or skirts. It can be either a light daytime outfit or a more elegant one for meetings or events," the designer says.
According to her, during the warm season she wears linen dresses with embroidery every day. And the jackets from the brand’s collections are a convenient option for the off-season.

"They work perfectly as outerwear and add structure to the outfit, even if it’s just a simple linen shirt underneath," she says.
One of the brand’s collections is inspired by the Opillia region, which includes parts of Halychyna and Lviv oblast. In it, traditional ornaments are reimagined in modern silhouettes: dresses, blouses, and jackets.
