North Korea to apply harshest strategy against US - Media
Last week, ahead of the New Year, a key political meeting of North Korea's ruling party took place. It was chaired by the leader of the DPRK, Kim Jong Un, reports Reuters.
At the meeting of party and government officials, a decision was made that North Korea would adopt the harshest strategy to counter the US in the interest of its security and national interests. However, no further details were provided.
The KCNA also mentioned that the alliance between South Korea, the US, and Japan had expanded into a nuclear military bloc, and South Korea had become the anti-communist stronghold of the US.
"This reality clearly shows to which direction we should advance and what we should do and how," the report quotes, according to Reuters.
During the meeting, the closed-off state also promised to develop relations with friendly countries. Additionally, Kim Jong Un called for progress in defense science and technology to strengthen the country's war deterrence capabilities.
Reuters added that such meetings often last several days and, in recent years, have been used to make key political decisions.
Just over a week ago, Reuters reported that the US is concerned about Moscow's intentions to support North Korea's nuclear program. This, in turn, would disrupt the long-standing campaign for nuclear disarmament on the Korean Peninsula.
