The new Covid variant spreading across Europe is reportedly more contagious than its previous variants. According to experts, the XEC strain, which originates from Omicron, may soon become dominant across the continent, according to Daily Express.
New coronavirus strain
This strain is a hybrid of previously identified Omicron sub-variants - KS.1.1 (FLiRT) and KP.3.3. The XEC is characterized by mutations in the molecules that are the building blocks of the virus, which makes it more effective in binding to human cells.
All doctors say that the strain is just beginning to spread around the world, but it will become dominant.
It will take many weeks, a couple of months, before the infection takes over and causes a new wave.
This strain was first detected in Germany on June 15. The cold weather can lead to a significant increase in cases.

- Shortness of breath
- High fever
- Persistent coughing
- Loss of taste or smell
- Feeling tired or exhausted.
