The granddaughter of legendary US president John F. Kennedy, Tatiana Schlossberg, is battling terminal blood cancer at the age of 35, according to The Times.

Tatiana Schlossberg shared her story on the 62nd anniversary of her grandfather’s assassination in Dallas. According to her, she has less than a year to live.

"I couldn’t believe this was happening to me," she wrote. "The day before, I had swum a mile in the pool while nine months pregnant. I didn’t feel sick. In fact, I felt like one of the healthiest people I knew."

Tatiana noted that she has a son she loves more than anything and a newborn she must take care of.

Her diagnosis

In May 2025, Tatiana Schlossberg was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia, a rare and rapidly progressing form of blood cancer, shortly after giving birth to her second child in New York. Since then, she has undergone multiple rounds of chemotherapy, two bone marrow transplants, and participated in two clinical trials.

"During the most recent clinical trial, the doctor said he might be able to keep me alive for perhaps another year," she wrote.

Schlossberg also mentioned that her treatment coincided with the nomination and confirmation of her cousin, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., as US Secretary of Health. She described him as "mostly a source of embarrassment for me and my immediate family." The journalist expressed concern that his skepticism toward vaccines could affect her health, leaving her to "spend the rest of my life immunocompromised."

Tatiana Schlossberg is the second child of Caroline Kennedy, 67, a former US ambassador to Australia and Japan, and the daughter of John F. Kennedy. She reflected on the numerous tragedies that have struck the family.

"All my life, I tried to be good, a good student, a good sister, a good daughter, to protect my mother and never upset her. Now I have added a new tragedy to her life, to our family’s life, and I can’t do anything about it," she wrote.

John F. Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas on 22 November 1963. Her cousin Robert F. Kennedy was also assassinated in June 1968, and her uncle John F. Kennedy Jr. died in a plane crash in 1999.

Tatiana Schlossberg’s tragedy has become another painful blow for a family that has faced loss and heartbreak for decades.

Earlier, the grandson of the 35th US president, 32-year-old Jack Schlossberg, announced his intention to run for the US House of Representatives as a Democratic Party candidate.
