Netflix has announced work on a series based on the novel Icebreaker by author Hannah Grace. The story about a figure skater and a hockey player, which became a bestseller, will soon receive a television adaptation.

What the Icebreaker series will be about
At the heart of the book’s plot is the story of ambitious figure skater Anastasia Allen, who dreams of winning Olympic gold. The girl’s life changes due to unforeseen circumstances.
She is forced to share the ice rink with Nate Hawkins, a star of a university hockey team.
Joint training gradually brings the young athletes closer together, and their feelings begin to spiral out of control.
Who is working on the adaptation
The project’s showrunner is Amanda Lasher, who previously worked on the series Gossip Girl and Switched at Birth. She will also serve as writer and executive producer.
Co-writing the script is Jade Bartlett, known for Road House, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and Miller’s Girl.
According to the creators, the series will preserve the atmosphere of the book and its charismatic characters.
“It’s been such a joy to play in Hannah Grace’s world of Icebreaker, a story filled with ambitious, talented, and undeniably sexy characters. But the real special sauce is that, above all, they are good, deeply compassionate people … and we cannot get enough of them,” Bartlett noted.
Among the executive producers of the project are also Alex Cooper, Matt Kaplan, and Mina Lefevre.
So far, Netflix has not announced the cast or release date. The project is currently in development.
