Mykolaiv hypermarket Metro damaged in Russian attack

On the evening of September 8, Russian troops launched an attack on Mykolaiv. The Metro hypermarket was damaged in the attack: windows were shattered and the roof was damaged, reports Suspilne.
Anatolii, a resident who lives near the hypermarket, told Suspilne reporters that he heard loud explosions during the attack. From his apartment balcony, he saw the store’s roof catch fire.
“From the tenth floor, I can see that the roof is punctured—in one spot and in another. I think the inside burned down,” the man said.
Another resident, Ivan, also heard the explosions. According to him, he has not yet seen the aftermath of the attack.
“Everyone was scared: people, children, students—of course. Everyone wants to live. Something exploded over there. A big, big greeting from under the ground to all the Russians—may they all end up there,” says Ivan.
The local Telegram channel was the first to report on the attack on Metro. Apart from strikes on port infrastructure, Russian troops carried out two strikes on the Metro hypermarket in Mykolaiv.
Following the Russian attack on the night of August 20, the Metro Ukraine chain lost part of its inventory. The company was forced to restructure its supply chains to minimize the impact of the attack on customers and partners. Metro warned that there may be short-term shortages of certain products and minor delays in delivery in the near future.
