Most Russian drones shot down, but some get through in overnight attack

Russia attacked Ukraine with 133 attack drones overnight, most of which were intercepted by Ukrainian air defenses. However, several drones struck targets, according to the Ukrainian Air Force.
The Russian military launched 133 attack drones, including Shahed-type drones, including jet-powered variants, Gerbera and Italmas drones, Bandera loitering munitions, and Parodiya decoy drones. The drones were launched from the areas of Oryol and Kursk in Russia, as well as occupied Donetsk and Hvardiiske in occupied Crimea.
As of 8 a.m., Ukrainian air defenses had shot down or suppressed 109 enemy drones over northern, southern and eastern Ukraine, according to preliminary data.
Hits by 24 attack drones were recorded at 19 locations, while falling debris was reported at three locations.
"The attack is ongoing, and enemy drones remain in Ukrainian airspace. Follow safety rules!" the Air Force warned.
Ukraine faces Patriot missile shortage
Ukraine is facing a critical shortage of missiles for Patriot air defense systems, which are needed to intercept Russian ballistic missiles.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Patriot missiles are available around the world. He stressed that it is important for Ukraine's partners to make the political decision to transfer them rather than leave them sitting in storage.
Recently, US President Donald Trump said Washington could grant Ukraine licenses to manufacture interceptor missiles for Patriot air defense systems.
However, just a few days later, Trump expressed doubts in an interview about whether the US should grant Ukraine such a license. Less than a day later, he said it might not happen at all.
