Moldova to receive equipment for intercepting drones from EU
Moldova will receive equipment from the European Union to intercept unmanned aerial vehicles. The decision has already been made in Brussels, EU Ambassador to Chisinau Janis Mazeiks told Radio Moldova.
According to Mazeiks, the equipment will be delivered to Moldova no earlier than 2025.
“If this equipment is delivered to the Republic of Moldova, it will help prevent situations when drones from abroad penetrate the territory of the Republic of Moldova,” he explained.
Airspace violations during Russian shelling of Ukraine
Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, several Russian drones have been spotted in the districts of Causeni, Criuleni, Riscani, and the Chisinau municipality.
In particular, as Radio Moldova notes, on October 31, 2022, the wreckage of a Russian missile that was shot down by a Ukrainian anti-aircraft system fell in the northern part of the town of Naslavcea, Ocnita district of Moldova.
