Elections in Moldova

The Moldovan parliament has 101 deputies. The September 28 elections were held under the new Electoral Code. About 2,000 polling stations opened in the country, and around 300 were available abroad.

At the same time, Russia is trying to influence the results by promoting Kremlin-controlled political forces. In particular, there were numerous reports of alleged bomb threats at foreign polling stations. However, the Moldovan Foreign Ministry said the country was prepared for such scenarios and is cooperating with other states to ensure the election process is not disrupted.

Earlier, Sandu stated that if Moldova fell under Russian control, the country would become a launchpad for a Russian invasion of Ukraine’s Odesa region.

Furthermore, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy warned that if pro-Russian forces enter Moldova’s parliament, risks could arise for everyone.
