Migration plan developed: Russia aims to settle another 300,000 Russians in Mariupol
Russia has made a so-called "development plan" for the temporarily occupied city of Mariupol. The plan envisions an increase in its population by 300,000 Russians, according to the National Resistance Center of Ukraine.
The Center learned about this from sources in the Ukrainian underground, which had access to relevant documents of the occupation administration.
"Planned demographic changes should be implemented by 2035. In order to stimulate them, the Kremlin started implementing a program of preferential mortgages for citizens of the Russian Federation," the statement reads.
The occupiers bring wage earners and civil servants from depressed regions of Russia to the temporarily occupied territories.
At the same time, local residents are forcibly deported to the territory of the Russian Federation.
"The National Resistance Center emphasizes that these actions correspond to the signs of genocide according to international law. All those involved in the genocide of the Ukrainian nation will suffer a just and inevitable punishment for this," the statement reads.
The situation in occupied Mariupol
Russian forces captured Mariupol and its surrounding area in the spring of 2022 after months of battles. Subsequently, the occupiers turned the devastated city into their military base. There are frequent reports of the presence of occupiers and their equipment in the captured areas.
