The first full competition day of the 2026 Winter Paralympics kicks off in Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo. On Saturday, March 7, medals will be contested in two sports, and Ukraine has strong chances of reaching the podium in both. Fans are placing their hopes on the star-studded team of para-biathletes.

Ukrainian biathlon hopes

Today, five reigning Paralympic champions from Beijing 2022 will take to the course. Oksana Shyshkova, Iryna Bui, Liudmyla Liashenko, Hryhoriy Vovchynskyi, and Oleksandr Kazik will defend their titles and compete for new medals.

In total, 18 Ukrainian athletes will compete in five para-biathlon disciplines, while Vladyslav Khilchenko will represent Ukraine in snowboard cross.

Full schedule of Ukrainian athletes on March 7:

  • 11:35 am (Kyiv time) – Para-biathlon, sprint, men, sitting class (Hryhoriy Shymko, Pavlo Bal, Oleksandr Alesyk, Vasyl Kravchuk, Taras Rad)

  • 12:07 pm – Para-snowboarding, snowboard cross, men, SB-UL class (Vladyslav Khilchenko)

  • 1:00 pm – Para-biathlon, sprint, women, standing class (Liudmyla Liashenko, Bohdana Konashuk, Oleksandra Kononova, Iryna Bui)

  • 1:40 pm – Para-biathlon, sprint, men, standing class (Serafym Drahun, Hryhoriy Vovchynskyi, Dmytro Sereda, Serhiy Romaniuk)

  • 2:15 pm – Para-biathlon, sprint, women, visually impaired class (Romana Lobasheva, Ilona Kazik, Oleksandra Danylenko, Oksana Shyshkova)

  • 2:50 pm – Para-biathlon, sprint, men, visually impaired class (Dmytro Suyarko, Maksym Murashkovskyi, Yaroslav Reshetynskyi, Anatoliy Kovalevskyi, Oleksandr Kazik)
