Magnetic storms: Forecast for all unfavorable dates this week
Magnetic storms can negatively affect human activity and cause a deterioration in health. Severe storms can also cause problems with communications. That's why scientists make forecasts of magnetic storms and warn of severe storms.
When magnetic storms are expected
According to scientists, Monday and Tuesday will be calm in the geomagnetic situation. However, a medium-sized magnetic storm with a K-index of 4 is expected on Wednesday. On Thursday, the impact of this magnetic storm will still be felt.
January 13 - weak magnetic activity, K-index 2
January 14 - weak magnetic activity, K-index 2
January 15 - a magnetic storm of medium strength, K-index 4
January 16 - a magnetic storm of moderate intensity, K-index 3
During magnetic storms of this level, people may feel unwell, especially on Wednesday. This may include headaches, pain, fatigue, drowsiness, and irritability.
It is worth noting that scientists' forecasts are subject to change, as solar activity is unstable and changes several times a day. Experts advise to periodically check for updates on geomagnetic activity.
How a magnetic storm occurs
The Sun regularly experiences solar flares, which result in the release of large amounts of solar energy consisting of protons and electrons into space. These particles can move quickly through space and reach the Earth's atmosphere.
When they collide with our planet's atmosphere, they cause disturbances that scientists call magnetic storms.
Magnetic storms vary in strength, depending on the strength of the solar flare and emissions. Weak and moderate storms are almost imperceptible to humans and are felt only by those who are highly sensitive to magnetic fluctuations and weather changes.
More powerful magnetic storms are red-level storms, which can cause not only a deterioration in human health but also a failure in communication - radio, mobile communications, satellites, GPRS. Some storms can cause the aurora borealis.
How does a storm affect human health
Scientists have conducted many studies confirming the impact of magnetic storms on humans. On such days, people are more likely to complain of feeling unwell and seek medical attention.
It has also been proven that a magnetic storm can affect bioelectrical processes in the human body and cause sleep disturbances, decreased performance and concentration, and increased anxiety and irritability.
Common manifestations of the effects of a magnetic storm
- Headache
- Migraine
- Dizziness
- Fog in the head
- Drowsiness
- Nausea
- Decreased concentration and performance
- Rapid fatigue
- Irritability
- Aggression
- Bad mood
- Anxiety
- Depressive state
- Apathy
- Pain in the muscles
- Problems with blood pressure or heart
How to protect your health during magnetic storms
Experts give mostly general recommendations for such days and advise to follow a normal daily routine and rest.
You also need to eat a full and balanced diet, drink enough water, and walk in the fresh air. You also need to get enough sleep, at least 7-9 hours a night.
The amount of coffee, energy drinks, junk food, alcohol, and cigarettes should be reduced or eliminated altogether.
The evening should be spent in a calm atmosphere and without gadgets. If your health deteriorates or causes concern, consult a doctor.
