The United States’ military operation against Venezuela has been completed. President Nicolás Maduro is already in US custody, the US Secretary of State Marco Rubio informed US Senator Mike Lee of this.

"Just got off the phone with Marco Rubio. He informed me that Nicolás Maduro has been arrested by US personnel to stand trial on criminal charges in the United States,” Mike Lee wrote on X.

According to Rubio, the military action was aimed at protecting those carrying out the arrest warrant.

The Secretary of State also said he does not expect further military action in Venezuela, as Maduro is now in US custody. Capturing Venezuela’s leader was the main objective of the operation.

US Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau also said that Maduro would face justice for his crimes.

"A new dawn for Venezuela! The tyrant is gone. He will now—finally—face justice for his crimes,” he stated.

Earlier today, January 3, the United States carried out a series of strikes on Venezuela’s capital, Caracas. Explosions were reported in the city.

According to local media, US strikes hit the Venezuelan parliament building and the residence of Defense Minister Vladimir Padrino López. Attacks may also have targeted southern districts of Caracas, including Fort Tiuna and the Generalissimo Francisco de Miranda Air Base.

At least ten facilities in the Venezuelan capital may have been attacked.

Local sources also reported a strike on the La Guaira naval base in Vargas state, which houses a naval academy. Strikes were recorded at the Port of Caracas and on Margarita Island in the Caribbean Sea, where significant military infrastructure is located.

Later, US President Donald Trump confirmed that the United States had successfully carried out a large-scale operation against Venezuela. President Nicolás Maduro, along with his wife, was captured and taken out of the country.
