Russian President Vladimir Putin has not changed his position on the full-scale war in Ukraine. He rejected a ceasefire on the front lines during a conversation with French President Emmanuel Macron, Bloomberg informs.

According to Bloomberg sources, after speaking with Putin, Macron contacted his Ukrainian counterpart, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. He informed Zelenskyy about his phone talks with Putin.

The French President told Zelenskyy that Putin's position on ending the war had not changed. He continues to reject the establishment of a ceasefire.

Putin and Macron's talks

On July 1, Macron spoke by phone with Putin for the first time in nearly three years. During the conversation, the parties discussed the full-scale war in Ukraine. Putin, as in previous talks, blamed the West. He repeated claims that Western countries allegedly provoked the conflict and continue to support it.

In response, the French President stressed the need to establish a ceasefire. This would allow the launch of a peace process with a long-term and stable character.
