The Élysée Palace welcomed the Kremlin's statement that Russian dictator Vladimir Putin is ready for talks with French President Emmanuel Macron, according to BFM TV.

Macron's office said that in the "coming days" they will determine the conditions under which talks with Putin could take place.

"We welcome the fact that the Kremlin has publicly agreed to this approach. In the coming days, we will announce the best way to proceed," the Élysée Palace stated.

Macron-Putin talks

A few days ago, French President Emmanuel Macron said that Europe would need to find its own way to interact directly with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, rather than through the US, which is actively pushing for peace negotiations.

"Either a durable peace will be achieved, or we will find ways for Europeans to restore dialogue with Russia — with transparency and in association with Ukraine. It will again be useful to speak with Vladimir Putin," the French president said, adding that Europe demands a seat at the negotiating table on peace in Ukraine.

In response, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Putin is ready to hold a dialogue with Macron.
