On Monday, July 27, French President Emmanuel Macron will hold an inter-ministerial crisis meeting regarding the forest fires that have affected several departments of the country, according to BFMTV.

The crisis meeting, chaired by Macron, will take place at 10:00 AM Paris time at the Ministry of the Interior. Due to the scheduled meeting, the president's lunch with government members and their spouses had to be canceled.

What the economic ministries will discuss

In addition, the French Ministry of Economy is urgently convening specialists from the tourism, energy, telecommunications, and insurance sectors on Monday – to assess the consequences of the fires in the Landes and Gironde departments and to discuss support measures.

The ministers of economy and trade will be present at the meeting. The goal of the meeting is to take stock of the situation, identify priority needs, and ensure the continuity of economic activity in the affected areas.

The second session will be attended by relevant federations, stakeholders in tourism, energy, and telecommunications, insurance companies, as well as the ministers of energy, industry, and digital technologies.

Forest fires in France and Spain have already led to large-scale evacuations. Over 250,000 people were evacuated due to fires in the two countries, and Spain declared a state of emergency for the first time in its history due to forest fires.
