International sanctions have effectively paralyzed production of the Russian Su-57 fighter jet, according to Ukraine's Center for Strategic Communications.

InformNapalm and the Fenix cyber center gained access to internal documents of the Russian company OKBM, which manufactures parts for the Su-57 fighter jet.

The documents show that Russia cannot produce key components for its fifth-generation fighter jet on its own. To do so, Moscow needs to import high-precision machine tools and equipment from the EU and the US.

However, after the introduction of sanctions, these supplies stopped, and the Russians faced a shortage of production capacity.

As a result, programs to create and modernize aviation are regularly disrupted. Purchases through China do not save the situation — European and American technology is needed.

On October 23, 2025, OKBM was officially added to the 19th package of EU sanctions, which further slowed down the production of the Su-57 and other aircraft.

"The conclusion is simple: without Western technology, Russia will not be able to produce the fifth generation. And the sanctions continue to tighten the screws," the center adds.

US sanctions

Earlier, the US announced tougher sanctions against Russia in response to its war against Ukraine. The restrictions apply to the two largest oil companies, Rosneft and Lukoil.

Although the new sanctions will officially take effect on November 20, their effect is already being felt: the Russian economy is under additional pressure, and Indian oil refining companies have announced plans to reduce purchases of Russian oil.

At the same time, there have been recent reports that Lukoil may sell its foreign assets to the Swiss company Gunvor.
