Kremlin continues nuclear blackmail, accusing Ukraine of Zaporizhzhia NPP attack
The Center for Countering Disinformation reports that such fake claims are part of the aggressor’s nuclear blackmail strategy, according to the Center for Countering Disinformation.
Russian fake news
Today, January 6, the Russian Ministry of Defense claimed that eight Ukrainian strike drones allegedly attacked the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP), but all were “destroyed” by Russian air defense systems.

The Russian side also claimed that debris from the drones supposedly caused a fire on the roof of the training center at the ZNPP.
Russia accused Ukraine of a provocation "aimed at creating the threat of a man-made disaster."
Response from the Center for Countering Disinformation
The Center for Countering Disinformation emphasized that the Kremlin continues to spread manipulative accusations against Ukraine, alleging "provocations of a man-made disaster" at the Zaporizhzhia NPP.
"With such statements, the Kremlin is trying to shift responsibility for all security risks caused by the occupation of the ZNPP by Russian military forces onto Ukraine. Moreover, these accusations are part of Russia's nuclear blackmail and threats of a man-made disaster," the Center stated.
The Center reminded readers that the only real factor of nuclear threat in Ukraine is the presence of Russian troops.
Explosions at the Zaporizhzhia NPP
Earlier, the International Atomic Energy Agency reported that its experts at the ZNPP heard explosions and machine-gun fire near the station.
According to them, there was no impact on the ZNPP equipment.
