Russia carried out a massive missile attack overnight on Saturday, September 2, targeting Odesa, the region, and several other cities. Russian forces struck several times, and a blackout has already been reported.
RBC-Ukraine outlines everything known so far about the overnight strike.
Key questions:

Power and water supply disruptions were reported in Odesa;
-
Social media reports indicate partial blackouts in Odesa, Kherson, and Mykolaiv regions.
Weapons used in attack
According to the Air Force, several groups of attack drones were heading toward Odesa shortly after the start of the new day. Explosions were heard in the city as early as 00:20 AM. At the same time, media reports said explosions were also heard in Dnipro.
From 00:40, a missile threat was declared for a number of regions. Later, Kalibr cruise missiles were launched via the Kherson region and from the Black Sea.
Russian forces' targets were heading toward Odesa, Mykolaiv, and several other settlements in the Odesa region. In addition, ballistic missile launches toward Odesa were detected around 01:30 AM, when explosions were heard in both cities.
Over the course of the night, Russian forces also deployed MiG-31K aircraft three times, at 01:11, 02:24, and 02:58. After the second takeoff, the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine detected launches of Kinzhal air-launched ballistic missiles heading toward the Odesa region.
Following this, explosions were heard in Odesa and Kropyvnytskyi. This appears to be the first such case during the full-scale war, or at least the first since around May 2022, in which Russian forces used Kinzhal missiles to strike the Odesa region.
Amid the missile attack, explosions were reported in Podilsk, Odesa region.
First consequences of the Russian forces' attack on Odesa
According to RBC-Ukraine, the drone and missile attack caused power and water supply disruptions in Odesa.
At the same time, DTEK’s website reported that electricity was cut off in parts of Odeskyi, Perysyp, and Prymorskyi districts due to a local network failure.

No official information has been released so far regarding other consequences in Odesa or the region.
Consequences in other regions
Overnight, reports circulated online that voltage drops to as low as 160V were recorded in Kryvyi Rih, while partial blackouts were reported in Kherson and Mykolaiv regions. This occurred amid the missile attack.
