North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has demanded that his military command step up military drills and strengthen the combat readiness of army units. He called this the “primary revolutionary task,” according to The Korea Times.
Kim made the demand during a photo session with participants in the third meeting of company commanders of the Korean People’s Army (KPA).
“The primary revolutionary task of the company leaders is to round off the combat preparations of their units for getting fully ready for fighting a war, and the way for its implementation is to bring about a radical improvement in the strenuous and intensive training,” the Korean leader said.
He also stressed that, thanks to the commanders, the prospects for building a strong army were “immensely rosy.”
The commanders’ meeting was held in Pyongyang on October 22–23 under Kim Jong Un’s leadership. During the meeting, he urged military personnel “to build the strongest army and accelerate the Korean-style military revolution by training the strongest companies.”
In addition, the Korean leader instructed commanders to “firmly carry forward the true nature of our army as the army of the Party and the army of ideology and core elements.”
Importantly, this was North Korea’s first military-wide gathering since the ninth congress of the Workers’ Party, held in February.
Earlier, North Korea made a show of displaying howitzers near the border with South Korea.
We also reported that Kim Jong Un showed off a missile capable of reaching the United States.
